Recently I've been more exposed to independent artists. And I must say. DAMN. These guys are maddd talented. Flow game is sick...beats are even better, and the overall delivery just blows my mind. Like honestly, some of these guys are wayy hotter than these niggas out here with deals...rapping about "Flexin" and "Pretty Boy Swag" & shit. So bubble gum. Ughh.
Like these unsigned rappers are thirsty. And it shows. I love it. They have such a hunger to deliver real hip-hop to an industry that is now flooded with big chains and flashy cars. We need that REAL hip-hop back. Music heads feel me. They have to.
Let's use Drake as an example. He used to be my favorite. His music told stories, kept you intrigued. So Far Gone, Comeback Season, Room For Improvement...all those mixtapes were before the label and if you listen to them you can hear his hunger, his actual talent. Now that he has signed with Young Money he just sounds like Weezy's protege. Nothing special. -__-
So I just wanna applaud my indie artists out here making music because it's their first love. It really means a lot to a real hip-hop fan as myself. Keep doing Your Thing. <3
